Traffic flow:
Traffic flows in one direction: into the loop, following the natural curve of the circle, and exits into the parking area and back to Cedar Fork Road. The speed limit is 10 miles per hour. The layout of the school’s exterior dictates a natural flow. When entering the fire lane loop directly in front of the school's main entrance, parents, guardians and day care vehicles should drop off students and continue. There is no parking in the fire lane/loop at any time.
When picking up a child from school early, parents and guardians should park in the visitor parking lot, enter the school and follow procedures for early dismissal. Please stop in the main office, provide identification and sign the student out. No one is to leave their vehicle unattended in the fire lane/loop at any time. Parents who wish to visit school areas beyond the main office must follow the visitor sign-in and sign-out procedures.
Day care vans and buses load and unload in the fire lane directly in front of the school’s main entrance under the supervision of school faculty/staff.
Bus loop:
Only HCPS buses may enter the bus loop. There is a natural layout that dictates traffic flow. Parents, guardians, delivery drivers and other visitors may not enter the loop at any time.
Arrival:
Students may arrive at school as early as 7:20 a.m. Car and day care students enter through the main entrance at the front of the school building. Approximately half of the students arrive via day care vehicle or parent transportation.
Vehicles should drive up to the main entrance door, where passengers will exit. An administrator or other school staff member will be waiting and available to assist where needed. Once the tardy bell rings, at 7:40 a.m., the main entrance door is secured and locked. However, this remains the dropoff point for late students, visitors and volunteers.
When a student is late, the parent or guardian should park the vehicle in the designated area, walk the student through the electronic system, and share the reason for the tardiness with the main office staff. The student will be given a late pass and directed to class. Parents and guardians must park and enter with all students who arrive after 7:40 a.m.
Volunteers:
Volunteers must sign in at the main office. Volunteers and other visitors will be asked for identification, the purpose of their visit and their destination. They will then sign in on the electronic system, which prints a pass for them.
Parking:
The parking area directly in front of the school building is designated for school staff and visitors.
Deliveries:
Most deliveries are made during the school's hours of operation, 7:20 a.m.-4 p.m., but should be made after normal student drop-off time if possible. Delivery drivers should park temporarily in front of the school, enter the office, provide identification, make the delivery and exit.
